Kuntal is a young Indo-Canadian child, who has developed an unusual talent that she has painstakingly learned from her architect father.
As her hand creates an artistic image on paper, a second meaningful picture miraculously materializes when the picture is turned upside down; invoking an ancient Hindu belief that life is full of dualities.
The journey of development of her art - along with its practical application to the world of advertisement, interior design, Art galleries etc. - is documented in her own words to benefit the world at large.
Kuntal illustrates her journey through an impressive and unparalleled collection of “reversible” images that take the viewer by surprise at every rotation.
Hailing from India I came to Canada in 1965 on Commonwealth Scholarship for further studies. Architect by profession, artist at heart, my artwork is showcased in prestigious publications in Canada, USA and India.
I developed a new art-form in which images can be viewed straight as well as upside down. Based on this unique concept, I created a 60 min. art film titled, ‘VILOMA...discovery in duality’. It was screened at The Buffalo International Film Festival (April 2015) and has won several International awards.
‘KUNTAL KALA” explores the practical application of the above art as applied to interior design and advertisement in today’s world.
